Let’s be honest, it’s been a bit of a year, hasn’t it? Firstly there was that thing that happened, then those other things, and even now there’s all that stuff, am I right? One thing at least is still refreshingly simple: the SHOTORAMA 2024 programme!

The format for SHOTORAMA, like the line-up of instructors, is a little different every time. This year we’ve tried hard to bring in some new instructors, while keeping some of our familiar friends in the line up. The timings have been tweaked (less breaks, sorry, that’s my influence!) to allow for more sessions. Here at shotorama towers we don’t like the word ‘chaos’, we prefer ‘urgent variety’…
Here it is!
SHOTORAMA SCHEDULE
The schedule is planned as follows below. Everyone will be in the same room, but the intention is to split into two halves (approximately according to grade) and run workshops simultaneously. Each workshop is 45 minutes, with short breaks in between. Everyone will train together for the final plenary session.

IT’s SO SIMPLE
…but what do our charismatic and illustrious instructors have in store for you? Time to get excited!
Sensei Lucie Marsh: Inner peace of the action. Sensei Lucie takes a deep look into the ultimate power source, kime, when the spirit becomes engaged and internal power can be channeled. Expect some drills designed to help you develop good kime and internal power in your karate.
Sensei Steve Bailes: In the Hips of the Moment. Sensei Steve takes a look at the relationship between the fundamental principles we drill in shotokan, and what that looks like outside the dojo when reality comes calling.
Sensei Alice Guellich: Messy Necessity. Sensei Alice brings her experience with krav maga into her workshop, taking us on an excursion from the discipline and precision of shotokan into the wild of when you really, really just need to get the job done.
Sensei Chris Mulville: . Sensei Chris…
Sensei Neil Jerome: Engines. Sensei Neil returns for a single session with the lower grades, focusing on consistency and accuracy of technique all the time while the engine doesn’t stop moving. He invites you to play games with him. Or is he playing games with you?
Sensei Kate Taylor: What’s not to lock? Sensei Kate brings her love of oyo & bunkai back to shotorama, and picks out sequences from kata to be taken apart, examined, and put back together.
Sensei Arianna Jennings: The Art of Martial. Sensei Arianna brings her performance experience into her workshop, looking to other art forms that develop the essence of movement and presence. The artistry of dance, for quality and flow of technique; the projection of character for technique with full intention; the role of storyline in how what happens now becomes what follows.
Sensei Sensei John. Sensei John wraps up the day in the only way he knows how – in style.
Way to go! Well done you.
